Posted in University of Insurance by admin on the December 31st, 2008

With the compensation way of life growing around the globe, having possession of public liability cover is developing into being ever more and more significant. If you don’t presently have liability insurance incorporated into your building cover, then now is probably the occasion to look into obtaining better cover. Here is some advice about why you need cover, & what to pay attention to.

What is professional indemnity insurance: Professional Indemnity cover is an insurance contract that shelters you from claims that other people could perhaps make against you in the occasion of an accident. If somebody damages their belongings or harms themselves in or around your property or business then the public liability insurance will protect you for any fees that may take place. Insurance usually ranges from ?250,000 up to ?1 million.

What are you protected for: Insurance will insure cover against accidents or loss that other people may suffer in or around your house or business grounds. You are protected from claims from burglars and injury that may perhaps take place to anyone from falling items or individuals carrying out maintenance. If a disaster takes place on your land & someone claims against you, your insurance will assist you to pay any expenses.

What’s included A few contents or property insurance covers have integrated liability insurance. You would be recommended to check with your insurer whether this is the case, and if so what grade of protection you get. Even if the insurance is incorporated, you must ensure that you are precisely protected for any sort of accidents that may possibly come about.

Payment: The payments that you pay depend on the specific type of protection you need. If you simply cover your house, then the payments are extremely likely to be much lower than if you are covering a business. Though, premiums are pretty cheap inexpensive the amount of protection that you get, and it is as a result crucial for anyone running a company. Buy public liability today.

Value Of News Articles In Your Blog As Link Bait

Posted in Blogs + Bookmarks by admin on the December 31st, 2008

One of the many advantages of opting to create news article posts at your blog is the fact that they often make very effective link bait. In other words you will find that many other loggers and site owners tend to create one way links from their site pointing to your article.

You can post a non-news article piece at your blog that readers will greatly appreciate and find very valuable. They will simply appreciate it and that will be the end of it. Very few will even bother to leave a thank you comment note. But when you post a news article based on a subject of public interest, everything changes at your blog. People will leave comments, some of them very strongly disagreeing with what you have to say. There are bloggers who get very upset when somebody disagrees with what they have to say when instead they should be delighted, because disagreement creates debate and the more heated the debate at your blog, the higher the traffic you will tend to attract. In fact some bloggers have a deliberate policy of saying controversial things in their news article posts in their blogs, knowing full well that this is in fact one of the most effective ways of generating traffic anywhere. And the most wonderful thing that will tend to happen with news article posts is that within a very short time, you will find that you have rapidly accumulated lots of links pointing at your blog.

Later in this series we will discuss how practically any blog can create news article posts that are relevant to the subject, topic of the blog and still present them in the blogger’s personal style. This means that literally anybody can benefit from the power of news article posts at their blog.

How to Keep Your Blog Traffic

Posted in Blogs + Bookmarks by admin on the December 30th, 2008

So you finally figured out how to get those visitors to your site, huh? Well, partner, it’s not over. Now you’ve got to keep them there, while also bringing in new people, if you hope for your blog to be effective.

How? I knew you’d ask that…

1. Pay closer attention to your audience than you do to your search engine rankings.

Who knows what way the wind will blow in years to come. You may be able to do without traffic from Google one day - just like you’re probably doing without traffic from Hotbot right now.

However, you’ll never be able to do without your clients and prospects. If you could you wouldn’t be in business, would you?

So pay attention to what your audience wants to hear. If you configure your blog correctly in the first place, you won’t have to worry about a good ranking so much.

2. Shut Up if you have nothing interesting to say. And while you’re keeping your lips tight, find something *really* interesting to say.

Of course, I believe that there’s never nothing to say. But I’m a writer and not everyone thinks that way.

After the first six to eight weeks, post every day if it suits you and you have words of interest. But if you can sense that your posts aren’t full bodied and home brewed, it really is okay to make us go without for a few. We’ll live. We won’t think so, but trust us, we will.

Just make sure you have something darn near-earth shattering to share when you get back, so we will all sit up and take note… and realize that we missed you.

3. When you Do Talk, Do It Loud and Proud

(Even if you find out later you were Loud and Wrong)

It’s considered impolite to behave like a Rock Star when you’re having a business dinner, even if you are one.

But guess what? When you’re blogging, you aren’t at a business dinner. That’s not to say that you Have to be a Rock Star. You don’t even have to be a Star. But you definitely want to be noticed, maybe referenced, and hopefully linked. A great way to do that is to be different. The most unique thing about you is You. Inject your personality in all that you do online.

So if you have news, share it. Heck, if you have gossip share it, just always, always, always, link to your suspicions or sources. On the rare occasion that a high-profile blogger’s information is totally off-base, they print a retraction. So don’t be afraid to suppose. Just let us know you are sharing a rumor or a hunch or a fact or an opinion.

4. Do Unto the Blogosphere, and Make It Easy for Them to Do Unto You

When I have credible sources, I link to them. Even if I read something from the Google Blog, but now when I first saw it first at Micropersuasion, I’m still linking to Micropersuasion. That’s all there is to it. (And let me tell you - it’s a Huge deal when Steve Rubel links to an article that you wrote even when it’s not posted on your site - think about that the next time you’re tempted not to link out because “they have enough traffic.”)

For the majority of people, I realize, that situation may never be in consideration. Most of the people reading this have nothing to do with search engines, public relations, or internet marketing.

Well, I’m here to tell you that even if your business is timeshare resales, link to your sources. You never know who is reading and who is going to link back. Especially if you’re in a business niche where twenty visitors eventually means at least one sale, find out what the neighborhood is like in your part of the Blogosphere, look around, and play nice with the other kids.

5. Blog Like You Talk - But if You Talk “Funny” Get Someone Else to Blog with You

Nothing will scare your visitors away faster than landing in technobabble by accident. I landed at a friend’s site about search engines, and the first paragraph I saw said somethinga bout (a+n) times the square root of pi and I clicked out before I even remembered why I went there.

Don’t get me wrong - if that’s how you talk, keep it real. But if that’s not the language your clients speak, you might want to either have an employee represent your company in the blog, or do a team blog that represents all the prominent voices.

6. Give Every Subscription Option Under the Sun

Most people paying online are going to use their credit card or debit card, by far. How crazy would you have to be to say, hm, 90% of people use credit cards, but the hell with that. If they want my binoculars, their only choice is to send me $20 by PayPal on Tuesday mornings.

In this same way, refusing to turn on your site feed, because most people are still following you by email makes absolutely no sense. Refusing to start an email list or offer subscriptions to your blog headlines, summaries or posts via email is equally nuts, particularly now that there are tools in place that will translate feeds to email for you.

Not serving as much of your audience as you can is turning down money, plain and simple.

Hopefully these tips will help keep visitors coming back to your blog. It’s like the old adage said, it’s easier (and cheaper) to keep your present customers than it is to constantly find new ones.

Why should your blog rank okay for one keyword phrase, when it can rank first page for hundreds like mine does? See the yellow grid at http://www.rescueyourblog.com/blogtraffic for proof.

Government Biggest Purveyor in Personal Identity to Identity Thieves and They Know It!

Posted in Net Info by admin on the December 30th, 2008

The United States of America’s government and the local governments that we trust with our information as we fill out forms that the government requests us to do as good citizens; are indeed the biggest purveyors in personal identity information that identity thieves use to steal our money.

There is too much information that government has each time you get a license, buy a piece of property, or even did a driver’s license and all this information can be gotten by anyone who really wants it. And guess who wants it? Identity thieves and lawyers who may want to sue you?

One could say that since lawyers are often thought to as thieves then the only person who wants your information from the government is identity thieves and thieves. So why is the government supporting thieves? Does that make sense?

The government makes laws against identity theft and then they are the ones giving away the identity and personal information to every Tom, Dick and Harry thief who is walking the planet. The Federal Trade Commission will fine any company that allows personal information to leave their computers.

But the government gives it away every single day. Does this mean the government can fine the government and if so why is Congress funding the budget for the Federal Trade Commission? Can’t they make it up in fines to government agencies, which allow identity theft? Consider this in 2006.

How Scandal Has Impacted on an Oil Giant

Posted in Better Business by admin on the December 30th, 2008

In recent times the most visible public role for Peter Sutherland as chairman of BP PLC was hosting the company’s annual meeting. But after a run of oil spills, deadly accidents and an energy-trading scandal at BP, the 60-year-old former rugby player has charged head first into the scrum.

Last year, the Irish politician and prominent banker forced Chief Executive John Browne to publicly pin down his retirement date. After Lord Browne’s surprise decision last month to depart a year and a half earlier than previously planned, Mr. Sutherland must now buff BP’s image and manage the company’s first executive-suite transition in more than ten years.

Despite oil prices dramatically increasing its shares rose only 4.5 per cent in 2006, compared with a 36 per cent increase by Exxon Mobil Corp. and 15 per cent at Royal Dutch Shell PLC. Yesterday, the company announced 4th quarter net income fell 22 per cent, in part reflecting lower production and lower natural-gas prices.

BP, in the mean time, faces U.S. criminal probes on multiple fronts — oil spills and corrosion in Alaska; a March 2005 refinery blast that killed 15 in Texas; and its energy-trading practices, with federal officials alleging BP traders manipulated propane markets in 2004. BP refutes this claim and says it is cooperating with investigators on all three inquiries.

Mr. Sutherland’s higher profile also underpins a trend that goes beyond BP: a shift in the boardroom dynamics at many of Europe’s biggest publicly traded companies. The criticism is often leveled that nonexecutive directors leave too much of the decision making to the executives. In recent times, many companies are moving to strengthen their boards with independent and strong directors.

Until the point at which Shell faced an accounting controversy in 2004, Shell’s British holding company had as its chairman a professor of geology. After the drama, it recruited Jorma Ollila, former chief executive officer of Nokia Corp as chairman. Unilever appointed an outside chairman last month to cap a restructuring at the Anglo-Dutch consumer-goods giant.

The goal of Mr. Sutherland at BP from the beginning has always been to focus on establishing a “robust” and independent board of directors he said in an interview recently. After stints as Ireland’s attorney general and Europe’s competition czar, Peter Sutherland in 1993 was instrumental in taking forward the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade in Geneva. There, he clinched the Uruguay Round, an important trade agreement that set the foundations for today’s World Trade Organization. For a man who has achieved so much it is difficult to forsee where he will find his next challenge.

The Importance Of Content - Adding A Weblog To Your Site

Posted in Blogs + Bookmarks by admin on the December 28th, 2008

Continuing my theme of how as a small business you can improve your search engine results. In a previous article I extolled the virtues of article writing and in this one I shall consider the practicalities and usefulness of adding a weblog to your site in order to drive more traffic to your web pages.

I am presuming that you have optimised your site, added numerous pages of content and update or add to that content at least on a weekly basis. All of this I did with our own website but still the search engines only visited the site about every 4 - 6 weeks. So although our content was being added to sometimes on a daily basis I couldn’t induce the Google spider in particular to visit the site more often even though I was submitting sitemaps to Google.which informed it of these updates.

I then started reading about the benefits to businesses of having a weblog attached to the site. SEO’s were and still do wax lyrical about how search engines just love weblogs. On this basis I decided to give it a go and looked around at the various free blog sites and finally settled on http://www.blogger.com as this site allowed the blog to be integrated into the website and offered a multitude of templates to choose from. So I chose my template and went through the process of integration with the website which is a very simple and easy process to follow. The next step was to start writing the blog. Very quickly I discovered that it was the ideal vehicle for announcing new services, new products and new branch openings as well as informing the readers of our day to day activities and experiences. All of it is excellent content and the SEO’s were quite correct in that the search engine spiders do love it. So much so that the googlebot spider visits everyday to update the web pages and the weblog. This now means that when my content changes or new pages are added they are immediately indexed by Google. This has done wonders for the search engine placement of the site.

The second benefit that SEO’s talked about was the increased number of links that having a blog would bring in. This part I didn’t quite believe as I couldn’t see how it would do this. I am still not certain of how and why it does attract links but the truth of the matter is that it does. The articles and the weblog seem to inhabit a world of their own and they certainly take on a life which you have no control over. However the combined effect is to boost your own content, attract search engines to visit your site frequently, increase the number of backlinks to your site and increase the number of visitors. All of which are of tremendous benefit to you as a business.

The latest figures I saw published for the number of businesses with weblogs was only 2%. So all you small businesses out there with a website, get writing articles and add a weblog to your site. Keep that updated, preferably on a daily basis, and you will soon see dramatic effects both on your visitor numbers and your search engine placement.

Blogging with Word Press

Posted in Blogs + Bookmarks by admin on the December 27th, 2008

I only entered the blogosphere in late 2005 after realizing that I was missing out on an important part of the whole “online communication” genre. As I had been busy managing forums, web sites, and writing articles, I soon realized that I could firm up my two niches - aviation and article writing - by blogging on these topics regularly. With that in mind, I soon launched a pair of blogs and I am very happy with my decision. I selected Word Press as I believe that they offer one of the best blogging communities out there. Are you a blogger? If not, why not?

My decision to go with Word Press and not with one of the other big blogging entities such as Blogger, had everything to do with my having complete control over the site. Since I host with Powweb, I discovered that my web hosting company offers over thirty different software downloads for its members. Word Press and a few other blogging entities are represented, but I selected Word Press due to the recommendation of a friend.

Within two or three minutes of my download, I had Word Press up and running. In less than thirty minutes, I had the layout I wanted, although I kept the traditional template in place as I knew I wanted to work on my content first and on the design later. Next, I updated the links on my two related sites to reflect a “Blog” tab. In addition, I picked a few places within each site to announce the new blogs and I emailed everyone on my members list to inform them of my entrance into the world of blogs.

If you select Word Press as your blogging platform, you will soon discover that Version 2.0 was recently released. Because I am new to blogging, I haven’t yet updated from my downloaded version, 1.5. I want to first make certain that Word Press has worked out any kinks that may be in the updated version. In addition, not all the plug-ins you can use [there are plenty of them] with 1.5 are compatible with 2.0 just yet. Most are, but some still are not.

Beyond the update issues, I enjoy using the administrative “dashboard” which allows me to create each blog. Because I include pictures with one of my blogs, Jet Movements, I also have to make certain that the HTML I use to put each picture in its place [alignment] is exact. Word Press allows for you to do that.

In addition, I like the fact that Word Press allows administrators to schedule their entries. You can blog today, but schedule your submission to appear online at an appointed time several days away. Since much of my writing inspiration comes in bunches, I often will tackle several days worth of entries at once and spread them out over the coming week. If I want to later change the timing of an entry or squeeze in a separate one, I can do that too.

Word Press is current with today’s web standards and looks much cleaner and professional than some of its competitors. You can change the template over to one that is in the Word Press arsenal or design a template yourself and upload it to your site instead.

Yes, Word Press is designed to be set up through your own web host, but if you do not have a web site, you can get a free account through Web Press and they will host it for you.

Although Word Press is an “open source” community, meaning it is derived from and driven by volunteers, they have an active forum and many helpful links to assist you with building and maintaining your own blog.

Obviously, I am a very satisfied Word Press customer. You can be a satisfied blogger too whether you select Word Press through your web host or host your blog directly with them.

7 Top Fashion Tips

Posted in Civvies by admin on the December 26th, 2008

1. What you wear under your clothes is just as important as the clothes you wear. Bras or panties that are too small or tight will create bulges; as well, underwear that is worn out will not give correct amount of support creating a sagging look. To look fabulous on the outside you have to wear the right undergarments.

2. Don’t draw attention to an asset if it exposes a bad one. For example, if you have a small waist and large hips you might like to wear belts to show off your tiny waist. A belt will draw attention to the difference between your waist and hips and make your hips appear larger. A better solution is to wear shaped tops that flow over the waist.

3. When you update your wardrobe at the beginning of a season have needed repairs done on your shoes. Also, remove clothes from your closet need mending or altering and get them ready for the coming season.

4. Thin fabrics like crepe, linen or wool jersey fall better and are more slimming than wool tweed or suede.

5. Don’t shop for an outfit the same day to have to wear it to an important event. You could end up with an outfit that just does not work and I don’t need to tell you the stress shopping at the last minute or ending up with the wrong outfit will cause.

6. Proceed with caution when you choose a top, skirt or dress that is made from a clingy material. Stretchy, lyrca materials that are too tight will show bulges and bumps that can be easily hidden in a similar top, skirt or dress made from a heavier, different type knit.

7. A cardigan can be worn in place of a jacket if it looks great. A great cardigan fits well and keeps its shape. Don’t wear cardigans to work that are stretched, or just plain worn out.

Bryan Ellis on Virtual Real Estate Investing

Posted in Better Business, Marketing Portal, The Real Estate Brokers Way by admin on the December 26th, 2008

Virtual Real Estate Investing” is a relatively new concept. Everything from using the internet as an avenue to make more money in real estate to online games such as SecondLife seem to be included in the popular definition of this term.

To get the facts, I sought out the man generally considered to be the father of virtual real estate investing: Bryan Ellis.

“I began using the term ‘virtual real estate investing’ in the late 1990’s when I realized the clear similiarities in profit strategies, regardless of whether the “real estate” is “virtual” or “physical” said Ellis.

Bryan Ellis cites the similar strategies one can employe to make money from “virtual property” and “physical property” as a primary parallel of the two markets. He points out that control of a domain name or even a specific web page is much like controlling a real estate property ” those assets can be monetized in similar ways: By selling them for a profit, by leasing them, by offering advertising, etc.

The similarities really are obvious. Consider: A valuable piece of real estate is valuable largely due to the interest that other people have in that specific location. Similarly, ownership of a desirable domain name is valuable for the same reasons. Regardless of the type of asset, you can sell or lease or use any number of strategies to turn the assets into cash.

In our next installment of this series on virtual real estate investing, Bryan Ellis will share the internet analogies to the physical concept of real estate development.
